Monday August 12, 2019-Emerging details indicate that Deputy President William Ruto is in the process of converting his private palatial home in Nairobi's Karen neighbourhood into a guest house.

The DP, who currently occupies his official residence in the same neighbourhood and which he has turned into a church, has since resolved to turn the house into an exclusive guest house likely to cost a fortune a night.

And though the house, which consists of two 3 bedroom maisonettes, has been operating as a hotel for the past few months, it has since been closed for exclusive renovations.

Reports have since established that the hotel, which sits on four acres of land along Koitobos Road, will be open for operations by next month.

“The hotel is currently undergoing renovation and expansion, but it will be ready and open next month,” a source privy to the ongoing exercise told the paper.

It has also been established that the facility will act as an annex to the controversial Weston Hotel, but is targeting VIPs interested in the serenity away from the city.

“Essentially, it is a Weston Annex of sorts, it is meant for the VIPs, the kind of guests who want exclusivity and serenity away from the city,” said another source, according to the paper.

Ruto moved into the house from another one within the compound in 2010, before moving to his official residence after winning the presidency alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2023.
