Tuesday August 6, 2019 - Residents of Kisumu County have asked the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to investigate how tenders are procured in Kisumu County before billions of taxpayers’ money is stolen by honorable MCAs.
Addressing journalists on Monday , the residents led by Kisumu Youth Coordination, Samson Opuko, said all Kisumu MCAs are officially contractors and they have been awarded multibillion tenders by the Kisumu County Government.
An example is the Railways MCA, who constructed a Sh5m public toilet at Lwangni Beach, but the toilet has since been demolished and the MCA paid.
The residents also said recently that a Kisumu MCA won a tender to supply a Toyota Prado worth Sh 19 million to the County Government and he bought an old jalopy and looted the rest of the money.
“Why hide this information from the public?”
“Ironically, a secondhand Toyota Prado was recently purchased by the County Government at whopping Sh19 million.”
“The tender team was headed by Haggai Kadiri while Eric Agwenyi was a member,” said a resident.
Another resident asked DCI boss, George Kinoti, to send his team to Kisumu and he will shocked to learn how junior accountants and officers from Kisumu County are stealing billions and buying cars and high end properties using stolen money.
