Monday August 12, 2019 - Former Kakamega Senator, Dr Boni Khalwale, has accused National Super Alliance (NASA) leader, Raila Odinga, of using the handshake to bring major development to Luo Nyanza and sidelining Western Kenya and other regions where he enjoys political support.
Speaking on Sunday, Khalwale said it is funny that Raila Odinga claims that he is the 13th grandson of the Wanga King, Nabongo Mumia, yet he has done nothing to improve the lives of Western Kenya residents.
"He (Raila does not value Western Kenya anymore yet he claims to be the 13th grandson of Wanga King Nabongo Mumia,” Khalwale said.
Khalwale cited the ongoing rehabilitation of Kisumu port, a project estimated to be worth KSh 3 billion; proposed extension of Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) to Kisumu; and revival of Kisumu Cotton Mills (Kicomi) as some of the handshake projects being undertaken in Nyanza, but none in Western.
Khalwale is Deputy President William Ruto’s chief campaigner in Western Kenya.
