Wednesday August 7, 2019-NARC Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua has stated that the constitutional review process in the country does not only belong to President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM Party leader Raila Odinga.

Speaking to Citizen TV on Tuesday, the former Gichugu Member of Parliament (MP) said the process does not belong to the ruling Jubilee and the ODM Parties as they are making it to look like, insisting that each and every Kenyan has a role to play.

“Running away with the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) with constitutional review as though it belongs to only ODM and Jubilee or to those aligned to President Uhuru Kenyatta or those aligned to the former Prime Minister is wrong,” said the former Minister for Justice.

“Kenya does not belong to the two factions however big they are. It belongs to everybody and this is what NARC Kenya told the BBI. And we told them, you’ve got to open up to civil society, you have got to open up to other groups and even political parties not represented in the handshake and to all shades of opinion so that it can be a Kenyan initiative,” she added.

The BBI was formed by President Kenyatta and ODM leader Odinga after their March 09, 2019 handshake, with a view of having constitutional changes ahead of the 2022 general elections.
