Sunday August 18, 2019-Elgeyo Marakwet Senator, Kipchumba Murkomen, has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta‘s government of illegally deporting lawyer, Miguna Miguna to Canada.

Dr Miguna Miguna was deported twice from the country in 2018, sparking a heated debate on his nationality. He has since won several court cases against government.

The government deported Miguna on excuse that he is not a Kenyan citizen but a Canadian national.

Now in a series of tweets on Saturday, Murkomen, who is a close lieutenant of Deputy President William Ruto, insisted that the government violated the rights of Canada-based lawyer Miguna Miguna, adding that he should be allowed him.

Murkomen, who is a lawyer by professional, also regretted why failed to defend Miguna Miguna's rights when it mattered.

"I never said Miguna is not a Kenyan. I however kept quiet as he suffered. But there are those who violated several court orders and should take the earliest opportunity to rewrite their wrongs," Murkomen wrote.

“In my short political career, I have learned that we must not allow citizen rights to be violated for short term political gains. We must defend human rights for all even for those we don’t agree with politically. Political interests are temporary human rights are God given," Murkomen added.
