Friday August 30,2019-Early this week, some top club owners in Nairobi went to court and sued interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiangi, for for revenue loss due to census shutdown.
The owners of club Whiskey River Lounge, Jiweke along Kiambu Road and Garage and 7D in Kilimani sued Interior CS claiming they made huge losses during the shutdown.
Now Matiangi has told the owners off and urged the Director of Criminal Investigations(DCI), George Kinoti, to launch an investigation since the clubs are being used by rogue businessmen to launder money.
He also said most of those who have invested in those clubs are tax evaders and must be investigated to establish the source of the money and whether they have been paying necessary taxes.
Already DCI has dispatched a team of detectives to work undercover and establish the real owners of the clubs since they are owned by a group of rogue businessmen and women.
