Tuesday August 6, 2019 - The family of the late Kibra MP, Ken Okoth, has spoken about plans by the Luo Council of Elders to cleanse his wife, Monica Okoth, following the demise of her husband.

Ken succumbed to colorectal cancer on Friday, July 26 and was cremated at Kariokor Crematorium on Saturday.

Luo elders were planning to invite Monica to Kabondo for rituals to clean her from her husband’s evil spirits.

In the ritual, Monica was supposed to sleep with one of Ken Okoth’s brothers without using a condom to chase Ken Okoth’s spirits.

However, speaking on Monday, ODM chairman, John Mbadi, said the family had resolved to avoid any rituals after a closed-door meeting which was also attended by the area MP, Eve Obara.

During the meeting, the family also agreed to shelve wife inheritance talks.

Instead, the family resolved that it will organise a prayer service in due course.
