Monday August 26, 2019 - Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader, Raila Odinga, on Sunday led a mega rally in Kibra Constituency where he announced the date for the party nominations to identify the ideal candidate who will carry the party’s flag in the looming Kibra by-election.
The Kibra seat fell vacant following the death of Ken Okoth in July.
There are 26 ODM candidates who want to succeed the late Okoth.
On Sunday, popular DJ Kriss Darling declared his intention to vie for the seat using the Orange Party ticket.
The reggae DJ even knelt before Raila Odinga and begged the former Premier to hold his hand adding that he will take a bullet for him if that would let him lead the country in 2022.
“I have heard that there are many young men in Parliament fighting Baba (Raila), allow me as their fellow youth to go, fight them in there as you wait to fight in 2022.”
“Let them shoot me if it means that you remain and lead in 2022.”
“I ask that you hold my hand Baba,” Kriss Darling begged.
Although many people have criticized Darling for kneeling before Raila, this incident has given him an upper hand in the race to succeed Ken Okoth.
According to sources, Raila Odinga was impressed by Kriss Darling’s theatrics and it is just a matter of time before he endorses him as the next Kibra MP.
