Wednesday August 28, 2019-Outgoing Auditor General has recounted the myriad threats on his life during his stormy tenure as the government's chief accountant.
Speaking to members of the press on Tuesday, Ouko revealed that the threats that were hurled his way deeply affected his family.
However, he said in spite of the challenges that attended his job, he was focused on doing what he believed was the right thing to do.
"My family feels the issue of security than me because me I am so much consumed in the day's work," the former auditor general said.
Mr Ouko has in his 8-year stint shone a spotlight on the financial malpractices that county administrations and government institutions have engaged in.
Part of his mandate was to audit how public funds were used and whether laid down procedures in terms of procurement were violated.
He said that he had not decided on his next course of action only saying that he needed to take a break away from the hustle and bustle of public life.
Ouko's challenging work saw him attract the fire of high profile individuals, including President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto.
