Tuesday August 6, 2019 - Leader of Majority in Parliament, Aden Duale, has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to declare his stand on whether he supports the Punguza Mzigo Bill or Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
Punguza Mzigo Bill is an initiative kick started by Thirdway Alliance Party leader, Dr Ekuru Aukot, while BBI is an initiative spearheaded by the President and National Super Alliance (NASA) leader, Raila Odinga.
Speaking on Tuesday, Duale said the President, who is the Jubilee Party leader, should come out and declare his stand since many Jubilee supporters are confused.
Duale also asked Uhuru and Raila Odinga to tell the BBI committee to finalize its work so that Kenyans can choose between BBI and Punguza Mzigo Bill.
Punguza Mzigo has gained momentum and is being supported by 90 percent of Kenyans.
The Bill is seeking to slash the number of MPs from 416 to 147 and also scrap the position of Deputy Governor.
BBI is the brainchild of Uhuru and Raila and it seeks to introduce the position of Prime Minister and two of his deputies.
Millions of Kenyans support Punguza Mzigo Bill since it seeks to reduce the country’s high wage bill by half.
Uhuru and Raila’s BBI wants to increase the wage bill.
