Friday, August 16, 2019 - NTV news anchor, Doreen Gatwiri Majala, is smiling all the way to the bank, after a court ordered her estranged husband, Mwingi Central MP, Gideon Mulyungi, to pay her Sh3 million for assaulting her.

The screen siren sued the MP for battering her on the night of February 25th, 2018 in their Karen home and the controversial legislator offered to arrange an out-of-court settlement.

The MP’s lawyer, Erick Masese, offered to make a one-off financial compensation to avoid the possibility of a custodial sentence, should he be found guilty.

A guilty verdict reportedly carries up to a two-year jail term, which would automatically see the MP lose his seat.

The Swahili news anchor’s lawyer, Cliff Ombetta, agreed to withdraw the case once the amount is paid in full.

However, the divorce case in which Majala describes the controversial MP as “a man with unforgivable temper” is still ongoing.

Majala went public about the assault on social media claiming that her life was in danger.

“Writing this with a lot of fear.”

“My life is in danger.”

“This evening at about 9.50pm, my husband, Mwingi Central Member of Parliament, Gideon Mulyungi, assaulted me at our Karen home and I sustained head injuries at the back of my ear, resulting to my left ear going numb,” she tweeted.
