Friday July 19, 2019-The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), on Thursday, released a statement regarding a letter that was reported to have leaked from State House.
In a press release signed by an investigator, John Kariuki, on behalf of DCI boss, George Kinoti, they declared that the agency had undertaken the task of certifying the controversial letter's authenticity.
"This is to confirm that the DCI is investigating the authenticity and genuineness of the said letter," an excerpt from the statement divulged.
Kariuki also made it clear that the DCI highly suspected that the letter, titled Enactment Division of Revenue Bill and the Budget Process, had actually been doctored.
"It is believed to have been fraudulently made without the concerned authority," DCI disclosed.
The leaked letter raised a storm earlier on Thursday, pitting the office of President Uhuru Kenyatta, against that of Deputy President William Ruto.
It has been reported that the leaked letter's contents, entailed advice sent out to Attorney General (AG), Paul Kihara, on how to deal with the Division of Revenue Allocation Bill 2019.
