Thursday July 18, 2019-Makueni MP Dan Maanzo has declared Jubilee party dead as rift within the ruling party continues to widen with members pulling in different political direction.

Speaking on Thursday, Maanzo stated that Jubilee will probably not survive to 2022 when President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to retire and hopefully hand over the mantle to his Deputy William Ruto.

He argued as long as division between Jubilee leaders allied to the President and those from Ruto's camp is not addressed, the party will go nowhere.

"The truth of the matter is that Jubilee is no longer together. When you look at the history of the country, the story of KANU, Narc, PNU, then definitely you know Jubilee is headed the same way," he said.

Maanzo advised Ruto to either form a new political party or revive the United Republican Party (URP) if he wants to continue pursuing his 2022 presidential ambition.

"What is important now, if I were to advice the deputy president is to form another party or go back to URP and start building his ambition from there.”

“ But so long as there are these differences between The National Alliance (TNA) and URP...Actually Jubilee is now over, especially now that they are no longer holding party meetings," he said.
