Tuesday, July 23, 2019- Treasury CS Henry Rotich, PS Kamau Thugge and 26 government officials have been charged in court over the multi-billion-shilling Kimwarer and Arror dams scandal.
They were presented at the Milimani Law Courts on Tuesday morning before Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti having spent the previous night in police cells.
Rotich seemed to put on a brace face as he stood in the dock but Kenyans reckon he appeared shaken and humbled.
Check out some photos from court and reaction from Kenyans.
Watching CS Rotich his PS Thuge putting on brave faces-after sitting in a cold cell-with junior staff minus chase cars, state secrets and influence it dawns on you that POWER like a SHADOW has left the room for the SUN has set on you.— Dennis Onsarigo (@Donsarigo) July 23, 2019
They can now pick and return calls.
The dock in COURT 1 is very humbling . The chicken thief, drunk and disorderly suspect , billionaire, cabinet secretary are equal before the Chief Magistrate. Egos take a beating . Those of us in positions of leadership must remember power and its trappings are transient .— Sen Mutula KilonzoJR (@SenMutula) July 23, 2019
If Henry Rotich was a minister in China, he will be hanged. If he was a South Korean, he will be incarcerated for life. In Kenya, he will get a cash bail, walk to freedom and completely interfere with any evidence left.— Lord Abraham Mutai (@ItsMutai) July 22, 2019
