Tuesday July 16, 2019-Three Al-Shabaab terrorists were killed by a member of the Kenya Border Security Patrol (BSP) in Kiunga, Lamu, on Monday.
Reports disclosed that the security officers had engaged the suspected Al Shabaab gunmen following a botched Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack.
The hand-crafted explosives that were allegedly targeting members of the BSU patrol unit, missed their mark after going off close to the border area.
Further reports indicate that the crude explosives were meant to be backed up by an ambush, once they went off.
A quick counter-offensive by the targeted BSP officers caught the suspects off-guard, thereby thwarting their elaborate plans, leading to the death of 3 of the terror suspects.
Two Kenyan security officers allegedly sustained serious injuries, and were duly rushed to a nearby hospital where they are recuperating.
