Wednesday July 3, 2019 - President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed Wiper Democratic Movement party leader, Alonzo Musyoka, on Tuesday evening as the Kenya’s special envoy to South Sudan.
The appointment has been confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through a statement released to media houses on Tuesday.
The Kamba political kingpin has been given the post as the Government seeks to ensure there is shared prosperity within the region.
Following his appointment, Kalonzo is now tasked with ensuring that there is long-lasting peace as well as security within the region.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs congratulates Hon Dr Kalonzo Musyoka on his appointment and stands ready to support the Special Envoy in the delivery of his mandate," part of the statement reads
Kalonzo’s appointment came after Uhuru and NASA leader, Raila Odinga, hosted South Sudan President, Salva Kiir.
During their talks in State House, Nairobi, Raila Odinga is said to have advised Uhuru to appoint Kalonzo as Kenya’s special envoy to South Sudan.
