Wednesday July 3, 2019 - Allies of President Uhuru Kenyatta have vehemently opposed the meeting demanded by Deputy President William Ruto, claiming that Uhuru is concentrating on developing the country and that is what truly matters.
In light of what is going on in the country, Ruto has asked Uhuru to convene an urgent meeting of Jubilee leaders to iron out their differences ahead of the 2022 General Elections.
According to reports, the DP wants the President to discuss four pertinent issues when he assembles the meeting, among them his March 2018 handshake with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
The other issues that Ruto reportedly demanded the President to address include party divisions, war on corruption and plans for 2022 elections.
But Uhuru’s allies under Kieleweke Movement have opposed the proposed meeting, saying the President is busy with more pressing issues.
“There is absolutely no need for a PG at this moment.”
"I feel that the Party Leader has made it clear in private and public what he wants us as a party to do.”
“He wants us to support the handshake and the Big 4 Agenda," voiced Nyeri Town MP, Ngunjiri Wambugu.
