Monday July 15, 2019-Deputy President William Ruto and his Tanga-Tanga team now want Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju to immediately resign from his post.
Speaking in Vihiga on Sunday, Tanga-Tanga team, led by Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei, asked the party to replace Tuju with former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale.
On his part, Khalwale accepted the new challenge asked the Luhya community to join Jubilee, arguing that it's the only national party which can help them join Government.
Mr. Tuju is increasingly under pressure to quit with Ruto taking him head-on, accusing him of working with Opposition leader Raila Odinga.
In a tweet on Sunday, Dr. Ruto wondered why Tuju should be a chief strategist of Mr. Odinga yet he was still the Secretary General of Jubilee.
“So our democracy is so liberal that the SG of a ruling party has become the chief strategist of the opposition!! Maajabu (Wonders!!),” the DP wrote.
And in an interview on the same day, Tuju refused to respond to the DP's claims, arguing that he's committed to helping President Uhuru Kenyatta to perform his duties.
“It is … my position that I am committed to supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta’s efforts to unite the country through bold steps like the BBI, the handshake, the fight against corruption and the Big Four agenda,” he said.
