Monday July 22,2019-National Super Alliance(NASA) leader, Raila Odinga, and his close lieutenants seems to have panicked over the Punguza Mzigo bill going by their sentiments over the weekend.
Punguza Mzigo is a constitutional amendment forwarded by Thirdway Alliance party leader, Dr Ekuru Aukot, that will see 269 MPs lose their job and position of Deputy Governor scrapped from our constitutional.
According to Aukot if these bill is approved, it will save over Sh 350 billion taxpayers’ money.
However some troops allied to Raila Odinga have urged Kenyans to ignore the Third Way Alliance’s push for constitutional change, terming it cosmetic.
Siaya senator, James Orengo, Rarieda MP, Otiende Amollo, Alego Usonga MP, Samuel Atandi, Ugunja MP, Opiyo Wandayi and Siaya women Rep, Christine Ombaka said the decision by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to give a nod to the push by the Third Way Alliance was questionable, given that an earlier attempt by the Orange Democratic Movement had been thrown away by the same body.
Orengo who is also the senate minority leader told Siaya MCAs to oppose the Bill and instead wait for proposals by the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) taskforce.
