Thursday July 18, 2019 - Gatundu South MP, Moses Kuria, has said President Uhuru Kenyatta has lost control of Mt Kenya region and he is no longer the kingpin of the vote rich region.
Since former President Mwai Kibaki retired in 2013, Uhuru has been the region's kingpin but according to Kuria the president has lost grip of the region to his deputy, William Ruto.
Kuria said as of today, Ruto enjoys more backing than Uhuru among Jubilee supporters, observing that more have bought into the DP’s “hustler narrative”
He said that Uhuru lost control of the region after he made a truce with National Super Alliance (NASA) leader, Raila Odinga, in 2018.
Kuria said most Jubilee supporters were not happy with the handshake between Uhuru and Raila and they saw the President as a betrayer.
“The President is hated in Mt Kenya region because of his association with Raila Odinga. He no longer controls the region,” Kuria told KTN’s point Blank host Tony Gachoka on Wednesday night.
