Thursday July 25, 2019-A High Court in Kisumu has today ordered the immediate arrest of Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang Nyongo and his sister Risper Nyagoy for contempt of court.
Making the ruling, Justice Thripsisa Wanjiku Cherere also sentenced the two to a 30-day civil jail.
Nyong’o and his sister have been involved in a case concerning the division of family property.
In May, the two were fined Sh400, 000 each after they failed to attend Court sessions.
They were to be sentenced in May 28 but failed to turn up in Court with the Judge pushing the sentencing to 30th May, a day they also failed to appear in Court.
The Judge seem to have finally had enough of the two and has therefore called for their arrest with the duo facing upto one month in jail
They will further be fined Sh50, 000 each month should they continue to be in contempt of court for the next 30 days and in the event they fail to file books of accounts on how the property has been handled.
