Tuesday July 23, 2019-Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko, has issued a stern warning to Nairobi Road CEC, Hitan Majedvia, over poor state of of Tsavo and Luthuli roads within Nairobi's downtown.

According to Sonko, the county government of Nairobi bought a new asphalt plant for making bitumen in November last year but the machine is no longer in use.

He asked Hitan to explain why roads in Nairobi are in poor state yet the county government has invested a lot in money and resources to repair them.

Sonko gave the CEC 14 days to repair all the roads in CBD or go home.

Here is Sonko’s full message on Facebook.

CEC (minister) and CO (PS) roads Nairobi county can you tell Nairobians what happened to the pothole patching machines and the new asphalt plant for making bitumen that were procured 8months ago. Why are you also taking long to repair our old asphalt plant for producing our own lami ambayo ilichomwa. Also where are our internal road recarpetting equipments ambazo our road engineers were using to recarpet county roads ama you are grounding them ndio all the works zifanywe na private contractors which is along process coz some roads can be fixed by the county engineers.Kama kazi inawalemea resign and go home. We have many young energetic engineers who are jobless in Nairobi. You have 14 days to act,” Sonko wrote.
