Tuesday July 23,2019-President Uhuru Kenyatta is keenly following the Tuesday's court proceedings where Treasury Cabinet Secretary, Henry Rotich and Principal Secretary ,Kamau Thugge are facing corruption charges over Sh 19 .5 billion Kimwarer and Arrows dams’ scandal.
According to impeccable sources, Uhuru is reportedly receiving hourly briefs from his aides on the court proceedings where Rotich and Thugge appeared before Anti-Corruption Magistrate, Douglas Ogoti, to answer to charges of stealing public money.
In his State of the Nation address in April, Uhuru said that he would ask any government officials charged with corruption to step aside.
If he lives by that commitment, it is expected that Rotich and Thugge will be forced out of their lucrative offices to defend themselves from outside the government.
Already Uhuru has already instructed Treasury Chief Administrative Secretary, Nelson Gaichuhie, to take over the treasury docket before he reshuffle the cabinet.
Nelson Gaichuhie is former Subukia MP.
