Tuesday, July 16, 2019- Disgraced Kenyan media personality, Esther Arunga, is staring a long jail sentence after she pleaded guilty to being an accessory to murder.
Ms Arunga yesterday told an Australian court that she lied to police about the circumstances that led to the death of her three-year old son, Sinclair Timberlake, in 2014, to protect her husband, Quincy Timberlake.
Initially, Arunga said the boy was playing with his younger brother when he fell down a staircase and later succumbed to injuries.
However, it later emerged that the boy was killed by the father who punched him and threw him against the wall in a bid to exorcise demons he said were in his stomach.
Following her shocking confession, Timberlake’s mother, Rosemeg Wambita has questioned the motive of Arunga’s testimony which laid blame on her husband of nearly ten years.
“That is a lie. I don’t understand what she means since she is the one who said that their son did not die at the hands of her husband”.
“Where was she all this time? This is peculiar to me (sic). It is a lie. I don’t understand it,” she told a local daily.
Rosemeg, who describes Timberlake as a God-fearing child, said she doesn’t believe Arunga’s testimony.
“When it comes to death, people can change. I this case I say no,” she said.
“If my son is a murderer, why did she accept to live with a killer.”
“I leave everything to God but I believe my son will prove his innocence to his accusers,” resigned Rosemeg who last met her son in Nairobi in 2009 and has not spoke with him since.
Esther Arunga’s fall from grace started in 2009 when she joined the controversial Finger of God Church that was run by musician Joseph Hellon where she met Timberlake.
She later quit her media job to become involved in the church believed to have had occult practices and it has been downhill for her since then.
