Friday July 26, 2019 - Keiyo South MP, Daniel Rono, has echoed remarks by Kapseret MP, Oscar Sudi, that all is not well within the ruling Jubilee Party.
Speaking yesterday, Rono confirmed that indeed there are changes between the two leaders who were initially so close.
He said that as much as Sudi was not speaking on anyone's behalf, his closeness to the DP exposes him to more knowledge.
“He is speaking on his own, but do not overlook the fact that he is very close to the DP.”
“However, the fact of the matter is that the relationship between the DP and the President is not the way it used to be.”
“The current turmoil is going to tear the party apart,” he said.
In a rant directed at President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday, Sudi, a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, said that the initial ‘bromance’ between the two leaders has faded away.
He likened their relationship to that of a married couple sleeping in separate rooms.
He says they are attempting to show that they remain together but they are in real sense separated.
This comes at a time when the rift between the two and their allies seems to be widening, with Uhuru repeatedly shooting thinly veiled shots at Ruto over his early campaigns.
On the other hand, Ruto, who is uncomfortable with Uhuru's 2018 truce with Raila Odinga, has defied Uhuru's anti-campaigns calls ahead of his 2022 presidential bid.
