Monday, July 01, 2019- Citizen TV journalist Jeff Koinange has recounted his last moments with fallen Safaricom CEO, Bob Collymore.

Speaking on TV on Monday morning hours after news of Collymore’s death emerged, Jeff revealed he spent time with the 61-year old on Saturday.

“On Saturday I was having lunch with my mother and my sister and I told them, ‘listen, given me an hour, I have to go see Bob.’ A group of us, about five of us, we had known this was coming. Bob had informed us. So we knew that he wasn’t gonna last very long,” Jeff said.

During the meeting, Collymore disclosed that he was ready to die and that he was at peace with everyone.

"He kept saying 'look I've lived a good life I have some regrets, it's not a perfect life, nobody is perfect but I'm ready now'," Jeff added, quoting Collymore.

"I have never seen anyone prepared for death like I did this man," Jeff said adding that Collymore was in pain as his spine was giving him problems.

Apparently, doctors had informed him that he would not make it past July having been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Collymore joined the telecommunications company as the CEO in November 2010 and has stayed at the helm till his death.

Collymore has been battling cancer for the last two years and took a medical leave in October 2017 to seek treatment in the UK.

He will be laid to rest tomorrow in a private ceremony.
