Wednesday July 17, 2019-State House has come to the defense of Jubilee Secretary-General Raphael Tuju after Deputy President William Ruto's attacks on last week for being recuited by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to his 2022 strategy team.
In a statement on Tuesday, State House defended Tuju over the ongoing allegations that he is working with the Opposition.
President Uhuru Kenyatta, through his Spokesperson Kanze Dena, while speaking to Nation, said Tuju’s Rarieda meeting was official and his presence was for the President.
“The meeting in Rarieda was a Government function and Mr. Tuju was there in his capacity as the presidential representative.
“The Cabinet Secretary had an official speech of the President and, therefore, it was not a private function but a development event by the government,” said Ms Dena.
"It was indeed an official trip. On our arrival, we were received by the local administration and Permanent Secretary in the State department of Youth,” he said.
Tuju has been on the receiving end from DP Ruto and his close associates, who are even threatening him with disciplinary actions.
On Sunday, Ruto through a tweet, launched attacks on Tuju questioning his role in the Opposition.
