On Thursday, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) verified that Dr Aukot’s Punguza Mzigo Initiative pushing for a constitutional amendment had met the required threshold of at least one million signature.
The bill will now need the support of 24 county assemblies as it marches on to the path of a referendum.
Among other proposals, the Bill is pushing for a reduction of the number of MPs to 147.
Currently the number of MPs is 416 and if the Punguza Mzigo bill go through 269 MPs will go home.
