You have no mandate to lecture MPs, lecture your own CSs but not us, we will do politics of 2022 everyday if we want - Jubilee MP tells UHURU

Tuesday June 18, 2019 - An outspoken Jubilee Party MP has castigated President Uhuru Kenyatta for lecturing MPs from Central Kenya who support Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential bid in 2022.

On Sunday while attending the annual Akorino gathering at Kasarani Gymnasium, Uhuru  read riot act to Mt Kenya MPs supporting Ruto’s bid and warned them of dire consequences should they continue supporting the DP.

However, in an interview with a local radio station, Kimilili MP, Didmus Barasa, hit out at the President for lecturing MPs

Barasa, a close ally of Ruto, bragged about how the President cannot intimidate him in any way.

The MP said that Uhuru has no legal mandate to lecture lawmakers.

“President is not the Prefect on the National Assembly, neither is he the monitor of the Parliament.”

“The President did not elect me, I was elected by the residents of Kimilili.”

“He cannot tell us what to do and what not to do.”

“I will continue with my work as a member of Parliament the way I know” claimed Didmus Barasa.

According to the first time lawmaker, Uhuru should only lecture his Cabinet Secretaries.
