Friday June 21, 2019 - Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker, David Kiplagat, continued his defiance against President Uhuru Kenyatta’s warning stating that Rift Valley region will campaign and vote for Deputy President (DP) William Ruto in the 2022 presidential race.
Speaking in Eldoret town on Thursday, Kiplagat said Ruto is the region's undisputed presidential candidate.
"We can allow residents to vote for other people regardless of their political parties, but when it comes to the Presidency, the votes will be put in one basket that is for William Samoei Ruto," he said.
According to the Speaker, anyone who goes contrary to the Ruto wave will face the wrath of voters.
"Any plans to bring other candidates apart from William Ruto will not succeed since we have already made our choice," Kiplagat said.
He vowed to move door to door campaigning for the DP and urged residents to support Ruto’s bid come 2022.
The County Assembly Speaker urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to endorse his deputy once he completes his term in office.
Uhuru will be in Uasin Gishu on Friday to commission Rivertex Company.
