UHURU orders MATIANGI and KIBICHO to beef up RUTO’s security after an assassination plot against him was thwarted - They wanted to kill him

Tuesday June 25, 2019 - President Uhuru Kenyatta summoned Interior CS, Fred Matiang’i, and Principal Secretary, Karanja Kibicho, on Sunday after Deputy President William Ruto claimed that four Cabinet Secretaries from Mt Kenya region were planning to kill him.

In a phone call to the President, Ruto told Uhuru that CS, Peter Munya (Trade), James Macharia (Transport), Sicily Kariuki (Health) and Joe Mucheru of ICT were meeting at Hotel La Mada along Thika Road where they came up with a plan to kill him before the 2022 presidential polls.

Following these claims, the President ordered the DP’s security scaled up.

The DP has since received more security.

Uhuru also ordered that all those mentioned as part of the La Mada Hotel meeting be summoned to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to assist with investigations.

More than 10 Government officials presented themselves before the DCI on Monday but they refused to be questioned until the Deputy President had recorded a statement to back his complaint.

Ruto is yet to record a statement at DCI headquarters to substantiate his claims.
