TRUMP sends a senior prosecutor to Kenya to assist in prosecuting corruption cases - Jail is beckoning for looters of public money like WAITITU

Thursday June 13, 2019 - The United States Government has sent a senior Prosecutor to Kenya to assist the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in nailing corrupt suspects

Kenya has battled with endemic corruption for over 50 years and President Uhuru Kenyatta has vowed that he must eliminate the vice before the end of his tenure in 2022.

Last week, Uhuru ordered  DPP, Noordin Haji, and  Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), George Kinoti, to travel to the United States and request for a Prosecutor.

Through Twitter on Thursday, the DCI announced that the Prosecutor from the US will be in Kenya with the sole purpose of helping in the ongoing fight against corruption.

"United States Justice Department is set to attach a Senior US Prosecutor to strengthen the ongoing anticorruption efforts. This was revealed by the US Deputy Attorney General, Bruce Swartz, during meeting with Kenyan delegation led by DPP," Kinoti said.

Uhuru has vowed to weed out corrupt people from his Government.

Recently, he announced an increase in funding to the DPP and DCI offices as a measure to boost their efforts to fight graft.
