Saturday June 29, 2019-The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is not carrying out investigations on Deputy President William Ruto's assassination claims professionally.

This was revealed by Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung'wa, who warned the DCI that they would be personally held responsible if anything bad happens to Ruto.

Venting on social media, Ichung'wa poked holes in the manner in which the George Kinoti-led agency was investigating the allegations and wondered whether the case had taken a political dimension.

The legislator faulted the DCI for leaking the information to the media before establishing the source of the mysterious letter, which alleged there was a plan to eliminate the DP.

"What was the desperation in parading for the press at DCI? Why couldn’t the DCI investigate such a delicate matter quietly, gather evidence and summon persons of interest at the right time? Or was it to push a political narrative rather than investigate? Ichung'wa said.

The second-time legislator cast doubt that the Kinoti team will successfully probe the claims, noting it 'failed' in purge on corruption.

"This is how they pushed the anti-corruption war by chasing headlines instead of suspects! Even on this, stop the media narratives and investigate in a professional manner!" he remarked.
