This is what RAILA ODINGA said after Kenyans blamed him over Harambe Stars’ loss to Desert Foxes during their first AFCON game on Sunday

Monday June 24, 2019 - Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has conveyed a motivational message to Harambee Stars after their loss to Algeria at their AFCON opening match.

Harambee Stars was thrashed by Algeria 2-0 in a game attended by the opposition supremo at 30 June Stadium in Cairo Egypt.

Kenyans on social media blamed Raila Odinga over the loss saying he is a bad omen when he attends football matches.

But addressing journalists when he paid the team a visit at their base in Egypt alongside Sports CS, Amina Mohamed, PS Kirimi Kaberia and Kenya’s Ambassador to Egypt, Joff Otieno, Raila said Harambee Stars have the potential to reach the AFCON round of 16.

“I want to congratulate you for putting in a good fight especially in the second half, despite not having got the result we all anticipated,” Raila said

Raila also went on to tell them it is not about the win but it’s about putting in personal effort.

“We still have a chance to right the wrongs in our match against Tanzania and I’m confident that we can do it,” he said.
