This could be the end of SONKO as DCI goes after him and his militia that has been terrorizing Nairobi residents - UHURU’s PS, KARANJA KIBICHO, in the mix

Friday June 21, 2019 - Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko, could be in deep trouble if found to have links with a militia group that has been terrorizing residents in the city.
Sonko shared a letter from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations that he termed as shocking.

The contents of the letter point to an investigation about claims of a militia that the DCI has referred to as 'Sonko Defence Force' and that allegedly link to him.

“This office (DCI) is conducting an investigation into the alleged existence of a militia by the name of SONKO DEFENCE FORCE.”

"To this end, this office would like to request your good office's assistance in summoning the under mentioned honourable members so that they may shed light on what they know about the alleged militia," read the letter in part.

But taking to social media, Sonko vehemently denied the existence of such an organisation and further claimed that Interior Principal Secretary, Karanja Kibicho, was behind the probe.

"I'm shocked by the attached letter from DCI central under the instructions of our very common PS anazeeka vibaya na fitina mingi na chuki (he is growing old and becoming very malicious and full of hate)," Sonko said.

In his defence, Sonko cited the numerous times he had been recognised for his initiatives that have helped reform many young people in Nairobi.

"To prove that I have never in my life entertained youths being involved in crime, at some point I even offer rewards to members of the public to volunteer information that would lead police to arrest youths involved in crime.”

"I have even gone further to motivate our hard-working police officers who are known to deal with these hardcore criminals who refuse to reform," he said.
