SHOCK as UHURU supports RAILA ODINGA's referendum call – WILLIAM RUTO is alone in opposing the referendum

Saturday June 1, 2019-President Uhuru Kenyatta has hinted of a possible referendum before 2022 presidential election.

Speaking at Jamia Mosque on Thursday, Uhuru hinted a possible referendum, arguing that few changes have to be made to accommodate critical issues.

“I have been giving you a holiday (Hajji) for three years now. Remember it's not in the constitution. However, you'll continue going for it. When that time comes, we shall change that book (constitution) and include it,"Uhuru said.

The announcement then means a bruising battle is expected among the political elites, with the framing of questions in the referendum being one of the most important aspects that will define the future.

Deputy President William Ruto, who is keen to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta, is opposed to the referendum.

However, National Super Alliance (NASA) leader, Raila Odinga has been telling Ruto in public functions that the referendum is unstoppable and Kenyans are all ready to support the plebiscite.
