Thursday, June 20, 2019 - Police have arrested a former Kenyan Presidential aspirant after he was found ferrying 445kg of weed with an estimated street value of Ksh 13.5 million.

Mr. Jaffer Isaak Sora, who was among the presidential aspirants in 2013 elections, was arrested at a road block in Marsabit town on Wednesday night.

According to police sources, the 45-year-old politician was transporting the weed thought to have been sourced from Ethiopia in a small trailer, which was being pulled using his Toyota Prado.

Police officers manning the roadblock stopped him and requested that the vehicle be searched but he declined.

The officers arrested Mr. Jaffer, who was unaccompanied and towed the vehicle to Marsabit Police Station where they discovered the bhang stashed in the trailer that was plastered with his campaign portraits.

According to Eastern region police boss, Esther Kihiko, the politician will be arraigned in court later on Thursday.

Jaffer served in the Kenyan military from 1992-2001 then went into private business.
