Thursday June 27, 2019 - The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), George Kinoti, has dismissed a letter purportedly written to President Uhuru Kenyatta over an alleged assassination plot against Deputy President William Ruto and insinuated that it may be fake.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday evening, Kinoti said his boys have identified that the letter was drafted by individuals who wanted to cause a scare within Government.
According Kinoti, detectives raided a house in Karen where the letter is believed to have been authored.
They are currently pursuing two people behind the scheme.
“A lot has been retrieved from that office.”
“The officers are presently pursuing two individuals, who are suspected to have been behind the fake letter to cause a scare," Kinoti said.
Meanwhile, four Cabinet Secretaries have refused to record statements with DCI until the Deputy President who is the complainant records a statement.
The four are Peter Munya (Trade), James Macharia (Transport), Joe Mucheru (ICT) and Health CS Sicily Kariuki.
Ruto is yet to record a statement with the DCI on the alleged assassination plot.
