Wednesday, June 19, 2019 - Kenyans have been left in shock after a popular female athlete turned out to be a man.

The athlete’s cover was blown after he was arrested and arraigned at an Eldoret Court for impersonating a female nurse at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital on June 14.

It was in remand where the 26-year old, who has been identified as Shieys Chepkosgei, disclosed to prison warders that he’s actually a man.

Upon examining him, the warders confirmed that he has a male organ.

However, his documents, including a Kenyan passport and national identity card, bear the name Shieys Chepkosgei

During his arrest, he was found dressed in a nurse’s uniform complete with a badge that indicated that she works at the Emergency Section of Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.

He is currently remanded At Eldoret Police Station under the names Hillary Rotich pending further interrogation.

While not much information is available about the races he has taken part in as a woman, a Kenyan athlete by the name Shieys Chepkosgei was handed a four year ban for doping in 2016 while competing in a Women’s half-marathon in Malaysia.
