RUTO refuses to record a statement with the DCI over his assassination plot - I can only record a statement in the presence of KINOTI, not junior officers

Wednesday June 26, 2019 - Deputy President William Ruto has reportedly declined to record a statement over assassination claims insisting that he can only record one in the presence of the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti.

Kinoti had appointed the Head of Economic Crimes Unit, Michael Sang, to record a statement from Ruto but he was forced to wait for an entire day and he did not manage to see the second in command.

Sources indicate that Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai had contacted the DP and informed him how important it was to have him record a statement before instigating a probe into the matter.

But Ruto insisted that he will record a statement once detectives investigate what the four Cabinet Secretaries were discussing in La Mada Hotel, two weeks ago.

The four Cabinet Secretaries are Peter Munya (Trade), James Macharia (Transport), Sicily Kariuki (Health) and ICT’s Joe Mucheru.

The four, according to Ruto, were planning to assassinate him before 2022 presidential elections.

However, the four CSs have dismissed Ruto’s claims.
