REVEALED: Top seven highest paid Bank CEOs in Kenya and the millions they pocket yearly

Friday, June 07, 2019 - Co-operative bank boss, Gideon Muriuki, has been ranked as the highest paid CEO in Kenya after going home with a staggering Ksh 376 million in the last financial year.

He was followed by Kenya Commercial Bank CEO, Joshua Oigara, who pocketed a whooping Ksh 273 million in salaries and bonuses.

At third place is Dr. James Mwangi, the Equity Group CEO who paid himself Ksh 117.21 Million.

On fourth place is Lamin Manjang, the former Standard Chartered Bank CEO, who left the Kenyan unit in December 2018 taking with him Ksh 100.8 million.

John Gachora, the NIC Bank MD came in fifth with a salary of Ksh95.9 million which is a nearly Ksh 2.5 million less than he received in 2017.

Barclays Bank CEO, Jeremy Awori, is the sixth highest paid CEO after he took home Ksh 66.8 million last year.

Former Housing Finance Managing Director, Frank Ireri, completes the list with Ksh 6.1 million.

To put this into perspective, the six highest paid CEOs took home a combined Ksh 1 billion while the average employee of these said banks earns nearly 64 times less than the bosses.
