Meet the UK‘s New Commissioner to Kenya, JANE MARRIOTT - An embodiment of beauty and brains (PHOTOs)

Thursday, June 13, 2019- The United Kingdom (UK) has appointed its first female High Commissioner to Kenya in Jane Marriott to take over from Nic Hailey in September 2019.

Marriot, 46, previously served in the Middle East and North Africa Directorate of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and High Commissioner to Yemen between 2013 and 2015.

She was also the advisor to Richard Holbrooke during his time as a Special Envoy for Al-Qaeda-ravaged Afghanistan. Her docket also covered Pakistan which, also, has problems with Al Qaeda.

She is currently the currently the director of the United Kingdom Government’s Joint International Counter-Terrorism Unit.

A statement from the UK High Commission described her as the most qualified for the candidate for the position.

“Marriott brings a wealth of experience to the position, having worked across many UK Government Departments including the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the Cabinet Office, the Home Office and the Ministry of Defence.” The statement read.

She’s a first class degree holder from Durham University and M.Phil in International Relations.
