Thursday June 20, 2019 – Kenya’s national football team, Harambee Stars, arrived in Egypt on Wednesday for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournament which starts on Friday.
The team travelled to Cairo straight from their training base in Marcoussis, France, and headed to their team hotel just a few metres from the June 30th Stadium where they will play their Group C matches.
Harambee Stars has been pooled in Group C alongside Algeria, Senegal, and Tanzania.
The first match will be against Algeria on June 23 and some Kenyan leaders have already arrived to cheer their national team.
On Thursday, National Super Alliance (NASA) leader, Raila Odinga, arrived in Cairo to lead a delegation of Government leaders who will cheer the stars from Kenya.
There is an old jinx in Kenya that whenever Raila Odinga attends a football match for the national team, it always loses.
From the comments after the video below, Kenyans don’t fancy Baba’s visit
“Raila Odinga is a bad omen .Usiende Stadium baba if you want us to win. Thanks,” one Kenyan wrote immediately after Raila landed in Cairo.
