Sunday June 30, 2019-Emerging details indicate that the investigations on Deputy President William Ruto's assassination claims now point at two of his aides.
The DP on Monday claimed that his life is in danger, after encountering a letter addressed to President Uhuru Kenyatta with the information, allegedly from a member of the Cabinet.
But the DCI have since established that the letter was fake, and are now hunting for two persons close to the DP, who might have forged it at a cyber cafe along Nairobi's Langata Road.
The police believe that the duo, from Ruto's Communications Department, proceeded to circulate in on social media; causing confusion in who wants the DP dead.
But the DCI has since established that the two have since taken measures to ensure that they are not nabbed and questioned.
According to reports, one has since fled the city and the other has switched off his phone, apparently in fear of being arrested and spending the weekend in police custody.
However, Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti has remained silent on the progress of the investigations, only saying that they are ongoing.
"Investigations are still ongoing. I can’t say anything that can jeopardize them,” Kinoti stated.
