I can’t apologise to a prostitute who begs money for sex – MIKE SONKO says after they clashed with PASSARIS

Monday June 3, 2019-Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko has said he will not apologise to Nairobi Women Representative, Ester Passaris, after the two clashed during Madaraka Day Celebrations at Pumwani Stadium on Saturday.

Sonko, facing backlash after he berated Passaris during his speech telling her “Unanipigia simu mimi si bwana yako" which saw the MP walk off as he was  speaking .

On Monday, Mr. Sonko insisted that he will not apologise adding that Ms. Passaris only wants to create enmity between him and women.
Anataka kunipiganisha na wamama na mimi nawapenda sana wamama.Mama mmoja asifanye diversionary tactics za kunikosanisha na wamama," Sonko said.
While saying that he respects Passaris as she has a development agenda for Nairobi, the Governor said if he is to apologise, then she has to apologize to him first.
Akianza ku apoligise, hata mimi nta apologise,” (If she apologises first, then I will apologise,” he said.
 On Monday, Federation of Women Lawyers FIDA called for the governor’s arrest for engaging in what they called hate speech.
Through their executive director Theresa Omondi, they asked the Inspector General of Police and Director of Criminal Investigations to take action describing his actions as “shameful and disrespectful.”
