Friday, June 21, 2019 - Barely a week after DNA results proved that the now famous Kakamega twin sisters, Melon and Sharon, were identical twins, separated at birth 19 years ago, one of the mothers in the saga has forcefully taken away her biological daughter.
When the results came out over the weekend, the three sisters resolved to live together having established a strong bond.
However, Angelina Omina, the biological mother of Melvis Imbaya, stormed the home where her daughter had chosen to live with the biological mother of the twins – Rosemary Onyango.
Melvis had been brought up by Rosemary in Kakamega under the belief that she was the twin sister to Melon Lutenyo while the other twin Sharon had been raised by Angelina Omina in Kangemi.
However, DNA results showed that Melon Lutenyo and Sharon Mathias were twins who were switched at birth.
While Melvis had requested to continue staying with the mother who raised her, her biological mother, Angelina, stormed the Kakamega home in the company of police officers on Friday and sought to forcefully take away her daughter.
The incident was confirmed by Kakamega County Police Commander, Bernard Muli, who urged the two families to solve their differences affably.
