Tuesday May 7, 2019-Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has cracked the whip on rogue hospitals in his county after he ordered for the closure of Shalom Community Hospital on Monday afternoon following the death of a seven-month-old baby on Sunday at the facility.
At the same time, Mutua gave 48 hours for the patients to be discharged and transferred to other hospitals.
"My Government has hereby revoked the business permit for the Hospital and the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board has also revoked Shalom Hospital's operational License," the Governor stated.
Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacist and Dentist Board CEO Daniel Yumbya also withdrew Shalom hospital's operating license over the incident.
Reports also indicate that the Managing Director at the hospital was also arrested.
Shalom hospital has also recently been in the news for the wrong reasons after a woman delivered a baby on the floor as nurses were busy taking tea.
It has also been accused of hiring quacks in the name of nurses and doctors.
