Shock as ex-President DANIEL MOI’s dark past comes back to haunt him as court orders him to pay 1 billion fine for grabbing a poor man’s land?

Friday May 17, 2019-Former President Daniel Arap Moi is in deep trouble for grabbing 53-acres of land belonging to a poor man when he was in power.

This is after the court ordered him to pay the late Noah Kipngeny Chelugui family a whopping Sh 1 billion in compensation for the land he grabbed several years ago.

In the ruling, High Court Judge Antony Ombwayo ruled that Moi’s decision to convert the land that belongs to Chelugui was illegal and must compensate the aggrieved party.

“There is no iota of evidence as to how the former President was registered as a proprietor of the suit land which was part of the property that belonged to Chelugui. The State Council stated that these were orders from above by the first defendant, who was President Moi.”

“The court finds that the statement borders on illegality, impunity and procedural impropriety. This court cannot protect property that was acquired through impropriety,” ruled the judge.

“I find evidence that the property is prime within the municipality of Eldoret and therefore Sh1, 060,000,000 is commensurate compensation for the petitioner,” he added.
