Monday May 13, 2019 - National Super Alliance (NASA) leader, Raila Odinga, got the shock of his life on Monday after he was heckled by Kisumu County residents.
Drama started when Raila, who is also Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader, proposed the construction of a special economic zone project in Ombeyi Ward, Muhoroni constituency.
According to impeccable sources, Raila was heckled by locals in protest of the alleged land grabbing in the area.
The project is slated for the official launch by President Uhuru Kenyatta in August 2019.
“Our coming here today marks the beginning of the establishment of Kisumu Special Economic Zone slated for official launch by President Uhuru Kenyatta in August, 2019.”
“The completion of this project will see SGR reach in Kisumu, roads done, industries brought up among other developments thus creating jobs and investment opportunities in the great County of Kisumu," Raila said amid jeers from locals.
Raila was accompanied by Cabinet Secretaries Peter Munya for Trade and Industrialization, C.S James Macharia for Transport, Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development and C.S for Petroleum and Mining, John Munyes.
