Tuesday May 7, 2019-Residents in Lamu County are a distressed lot following a chilling threat issued by suspected Al Shabaab militants to non-Muslims living in the area.

Reports indicate the Al-Shabaab threats which were that Arabic messages were written on the roads, which loosely translated to “Let the non-Muslims prepare for war.”

Police officers in the region discovered the threats while responding to heavy gunshots heard a few metres from Ishakani GSU Camp.

Upon arriving at the scene, the officers also found the road along the Kenyan-Somalia border blocked by suspected terrorists.

The suspected terrorists reportedly fled the scene after noticing the officers.

It is reported that the incident has caused anxiety among the locals even as police remained on high alert.

This comes even as intelligence report issued by the police warned that suspected militants from Somalia had crossed the border into Kenya.

According to reports, the militants were 15 in number and were intending to make attacks in the North Eastern targeting hospitals.
